Creating lifelong lovers of reading and writing, Phonics Code is the perfect teaching platform for your school or home.

Full Release: January 2026

Phonics Code teaches the letters & sounds of English, moving from the simple to complex, and provides all the required resources for the first 3 years of phonics instruction. Phonics Code can also be used to supplement and enhance your current phonics programme or in catch-up lessons. Phonics Code can also be used to supplement and enhance your current phonics programme or in catch-up lessons.

More than just phonics

Teacher guidance and professional learning is embedded within the phonic progression, along with decodable texts, multi-sensory learning tools, and progress monitoring through cumulative digital assessments. All your preparation is taken care of. Phonics is taught directly and in a specific, logical order, starting with basic letter-sound relationships and progressing to more complex patterns. Beyond phonics, the carefully designed daily lessons explicitly teaches:

  • Phonological Awareness: The ability to hear and manipulate the individual sounds (phonemes) in spoken language.
  • Morphology: The study of word parts (like prefixes and suffixes) and how they affect meaning.
  • Syntax: The rules and structure of sentences.
  • Semantics: The meaning of words and sentences.
  • Vocabulary: A wide range of words.
  • Fluency: The ability to read with speed, accuracy, and expression.
  • Comprehension: The ability to understand what is read

Phonics Code provides all the necessary resources for children to build a complete understanding of language, not just how to sound out words. While especially effective for struggling readers and those with dyslexia, this comprehensive approach benefits all students by building a robust foundation for reading and writing.

Scope and sequence

Our Phonics Code progression is aligned to the Ready to Read Phonics Plus scope and sequence and Australian Reading Curriculum, phonic knowledge and word recognition levels 3-8. It is suggested that each block of lessons (e.g. 1-18 / 19-29) should be taught over a 10 week period.

Beyond phonics

Lessons

Develop the core skills for reading and spelling in a fun and effective way. Lessons can be taught using an iPad, lap-top or large screen. Letters and Sounds are systematically introduced. Teacher guidance is provided within the lessons. Lessons are based on an I do, we do, you do methodology.

Lessons 1-18 are free to access.

Decodable books

ok1BoBoThe perfect way to apply new knowledge of the letters and sounds.  Each letter/sound has its own lesson and each lesson has its own fully decodable book. All books have lists of heart/tricky words and comprehension questions.

Books 1-18 are free to access.

Creating lifelong lovers of reading and writing

Phonics Code fosters children’s phonemic awareness skills in preparation for high-quality phonic teaching. They learn how the alphabet works, arming them with the knowledge and skills they need to become fluent readers and confident spellers by the age of seven.

3-part multi-sensory approach, engages students visually, auditorily, and kinesthetically by using visual cues, auditory drills, and kinesthetic activities to reinforce the phoneme's sound and its representation.

Phonics Code can also be used as a powerful catch-up programme for those with ‘phonics gaps’.

Lessons 1-18 are free to use, so you can try out the programme in full before committing to a subscription.

One-to-one summative assessments of letter/sounds, blending for reading and tricky words are carried out in week 10 of each block of lessons. It is suggested that the teacher sets aside enough time to individually test a fifth of the class on each day. Results are recorded and the lowest 20% of children are identified for individual keep-up lessons.
