Phonics Code fosters children’s phonemic awareness skills in preparation for high-quality phonic teaching. They learn how the alphabet works, arming them with the knowledge and skills they need to become fluent readers and confident spellers by the age of seven.
3-part multi-sensory approach, engages students visually, auditorily, and kinesthetically by using visual cues, auditory drills, and kinesthetic activities to reinforce the phoneme's sound and its representation.
Phonics Code can also be used as a powerful catch-up programme for those with ‘phonics gaps’.
Lessons 1-18 are free to use, so you can try out the programme in full before committing to a subscription.
One-to-one summative assessments of letter/sounds, blending for reading and tricky words are carried out in week 10 of each block of lessons. It is suggested that the teacher sets aside enough time to individually test a fifth of the class on each day. Results are recorded and the lowest 20% of children are identified for individual keep-up lessons.
